The Department of Public Works is in charge of planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure along with many of the City’s public services. The department is responsible for storm and sanitary sewers, water mains, terrace trees, street maintenance, traffic control, street lighting, sidewalks, bridges, refuse collection, transit, GIS mapping, parks, pools, and many other services. The department also provides vehicle maintenance for much of the City’s Fleet.
The Department of Public Works can be broken into seven general operating divisions.
