Fire In Duplex Contained to Kitchen

Fond du Lac, WI: On September 12, 2018 at 7:10 a.m. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue responded to 149 W. 2nd St. for a report of smoke coming from a window of a 2-story wood frame duplex. Upon arrival fire crews reported smoke coming from the first floor. Firefighters had to force entry and quickly attacked the fire which was contained to an area on the floor of the kitchen. The house sustained minor damage but is still habitable. The occupants was home at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries. There were no smoke alarms sounding when fire crews arrived.

Fond du Lac Police assisted with scene management and investigation of the fire. The cause of the fire is undermined and is under investigation. Alliant Energy was called to the scene to evaluate energy services.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue crews will be canvasing the area later today to educate individuals on the importance of working smoke detectors and fire safety. Media of the fire can be found on our Twitter and Facebook feeds and can be used by the media with proper credit to FDLFR.
