Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio makerspace team is looking for flexible and versatile Pre-Service Teachers (PST) to support the delivery of the Design Lab Summer and Academic Year Programs. Summer Design Lab is an innovative arts-integrated day camp for 3rd-5th grade students in the Fond du Lac School District. Academic Year Design Lab sessions are focused on concepts on Design Thinking and solving real world problems. Design Lab is part of the 2021-2026 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Ecosystem Expansion Demonstration Project (SEED Project), funded by the U.S. Dept of Education’s Assistance for Arts Education (AAE) grant and administered by Dramatic Results, a non-profit educational arts agency. The goal of the SEED Project is to develop communities’ capacity to create and sustain high-quality, engaging, and equitable STEAM programs for underrepresented students in an effort to build arts-integrated educational pathways to a more diverse creative workforce, with project sites located in California, Maryland and Wisconsin.

Design Lab’s mission is to empower young innovators to think differently about themselves and their world.

2024 Summer Design Lab sessions are currently being planned and PSTs do not have to be available for all of them to be considered.
2024 Fall Design Lab will be spread out over 10 Saturdays in October, November, and December

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Think critically about diversity, equity, access and inclusion (DEAI) and its impact on delivering culturally relevant programming
● Work collaboratively with co-teachers, workshop presenters, and independently to deliver high-quality programming; with a special emphasis on social emotional learning practices
● Nurture professional and positive relationships with colleagues and partners
● Facilitate established SEED/Design Lab curriculum as needed
● Demonstrate mindfulness when working with students and educators
● Attend 18 hours of professional development annually in addition to job training

Notes:
This LTE/Seasonal position is dependent on grant funding and job performance. Continuation of work beyond each season is not guaranteed.

Position will report to Program Manager/Liaison but will work closely with Curriculum and Instruction Specialist as well.
Hourly pay: $22/hr
Schedule: Variable; up to 40 hrs/wk during program delivery and training. Some flexibility available if arranged at time of hire.
