The City of Fond du Lac Water Utility is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator II<\/span>. This position will be under general supervision to operate and complete routine maintenance of heavy or specialized construction equipment to maintain the City\u2019s water infrastructure. The Utility offers a stable consistent working opportunity with a well-rounded work\/life balance.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will have the knowledge, experience, and skills<\/strong> necessary to perform the essential duties of the following:
\n\u2022 Operation and minor maintenance of heavy equipment for repairs to water infrastructure
\n\u2022 Hydro-Excavation
\n\u2022 Fluent in the repair of water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer infrastructure
\n\u2022 Full road and landscape restoration (form, pour, and finish concrete, landscaping and asphalt prep)
\n\u2022 On-call rotation (Roughly 5 weeks per year when\/if fully staffed)
\n\u2022 Emergency response 24\/7\/365 (water main breaks, service leaks, hydrant repair, etc.) 60% response rate is required.
\n\u2022 Monitor projects in the field for safety; provide guidance\/direction\/train and mentor co-workers
\n\u2022 Read, understand, and execute jobsite plans for project completion
\n\u2022 Setup and maintain safe construction work zones by using proper traffic control devices
\n\u2022 Cleaning and equipment maintenance
\n\u2022 Project record keeping (time, equipment & material use, as-builds)
\n\u2022 Snow removal
\n\u2022 Distribution system flushing
\n\u2022 Participate in all lower classification duties as needed<\/p>\n

Qualifications include<\/strong>: 7 \u2013 10 years progressive experience relating to general road construction, excavation, concrete restoration, and water utility repair with a minimum of 5 years of heavy equipment operation; ability to locate and uncover underground utilities while monitoring for occupational hazards and safe work practices; working knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials commonly used in public works and water facility maintenance activities; possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial “Class A” Driver’s License without air brakes restriction and with tanker endorsement<\/p>\n

Minimum training and experience required\/preferred to perform essential job functions:<\/strong> Graduation from high school or equivalent; and current training, in Competent Person, Forklift Safety, Work Zone\/Flagger Safety, Confined Space Entry, Wisconsin DNR Distribution Certificate, Basic First Aid, and CPR. Willing to train proper candidate.<\/p>\n

SALARY RANGE:<\/strong> We offer a competitive compensation package $27.43 \u2013 $32.09\/hour upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive additional step increases based on meeting and\/or exceeding goals\/expectations; annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets; and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.<\/p>\n
