Fond du Lac is a great place to live and work and its recreational opportunities are second-to-none. In addition, Fond du Lac is only an hour away from Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Madison and all those communities have to offer.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking qualified candidates that enjoy working outside, with their hands, and in a small team setting, for the essential position of Water Utility Worker within the Department of Public Works Water Utility Division. The position is under general supervision to perform all duties necessary for the installation and maintenance of water distribution facilities.<\/p>\n<p>We offer opportunities to make a positive impact on the local community as well as a flexible working environment and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Specific duties include:<\/span><br \/>\n\u2022 Excavation and repair of water mains, services, valves and hydrants<br \/>\n\u2022 Full restoration of disturbed areas of concrete, asphalt, and landscaping<br \/>\n\u2022 Setup and removal of temporary traffic control devices as needed<br \/>\n\u2022 Complete annual maintenance on hydrants and valves<\/p>\n<p>The position also requires the employee to be frequently available for emergency response during off-shift hours as well as participate in the on-call rotation.<br \/>\n\u2022 On-call rotation (Roughly 5 weeks per year when\/if fully staffed)<br \/>\n\u2022 Emergency response 24\/7\/365 (water main breaks, service leaks, vehicle accidents, etc.) 60% response rate is required.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>(Additional compensation included per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdl.wi.gov\/hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/12\/DPW-Work-Rules-12-8-23.pdf\" class=\"mtli_attachment mtli_pdf\">DPW Work Rules<\/a>)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Qualifications and\/or knowledge and willingness to learn the following include (no experience required, will train the right candidate):<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 General knowledge of underground utility construction and maintenance, associated equipment;<br \/>\n\u2022 Dump truck operation;<br \/>\n\u2022 Understanding of proper roadway and pavement repair;<br \/>\n\u2022 Construction zone safety practices and procedures;<br \/>\n\u2022 Possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial \u201cClass A\u201d Driver\u2019s License without air brake restrictions and with tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire (in-house training available).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Desirable Training and Experience:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Performing semi-skilled manual work on construction and maintenance of underground utilities;<br \/>\n\u2022 Competent persons training and familiarity with calling in locates to diggers hotline;<br \/>\n\u2022 Graduation from high school or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BENEFITS:<\/strong>\u00a0 We offer a comprehensive benefit package including health, life, dental, and vision insurance; long-term disability; 457 and Roth retirement plans; and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
