The City of Fond du Lac Police Department\u2019s Patrol Division is comprised of 44 Police Officers spread across 5 different shifts. They handle approximately 50,000 calls for service (including self-initiated activity). The Patrol Division is responsible for providing police protection and service to approximately 45,000 residents in a community of more than 20 square miles. Additionally, the population of the Fond du Lac metropolitan area is over 66,000 people. The City has two (2) colleges\/universities, a large retail and service industry, and many major employers, thereby causing the service population to be significantly higher Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n

The FDLPD is an Intelligence-Led Neighborhood Engagement Policing agency. Intelligence-led policing is a collaborative approach combining team problem-solving, information sharing, accountability, and enhanced intelligence operations. FDLPD added \u2018engagement\u2019 to our model, so we are driven to develop responses that embody elements supported by the community. The City is divided into seven (7) geographically based neighborhoods:<\/p>\n

7. Business District – Lt. Jason De Jager (Email Jason De Jager<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Each neighborhood is overseen by a Patrol Lieutenant. Lieutenants develop goals for their assigned neighborhoods, create engagement activities, organize community projects, and are responsible for neighborhood watch groups. An eighth (8th) Patrol Lieutenant (Lt. Kevin Post) is in charge of analytics and provides data to the Neighborhood Lieutenants to better deploy resources and coordinate special assignments.<\/p>\n<\/div>
