Workers in this field must have an educational background in wastewater and earn state certification by passing operator exams.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"bodyNorm\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"picgap2 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fdl.wi.gov\/wastewater\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/OPS6_5312017081214.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/>A wastewater operator\u00a0oversees the equipment, machines and\u00a0monitoring devices\u00a0at the wastewater\u00a0treatment facility\u00a0and makes necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines.<\/p>\n<p id=\"bodyNorm\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"picgap2 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fdl.wi.gov\/wastewater\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/OPS7_5312017081544.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/>The equipment they are responsible for generally includes\u00a0valves, meters, control panels and pumps, generators, and other equipment necessary for operations.\u00a0 \u00a0A wastewater\u00a0operator\u00a0also makes regular physical inspections of the plant on an hourly or semi-hourly basis by walking around the plant and observing the performance of each piece of equipment.<\/p>\n<div id=\"bodyNorm\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"picgap2 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fdl.wi.gov\/wastewater\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/STATION_4172017100326.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition to their monitoring and maintenance duties at the plant, a wastewater operator may be required to occasionally visit sanitary lift stations and storm water pump stations within the city.\u00a0 At these remote locations, they monitor equipment and activity and investigate any issues that could lead to more severe problems.\u00a0 They are also trained to handle power outages or natural disasters that may interrupt wastewater operations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><div id=\"hdNorm\">\n<h5><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"bodyNorm\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"bodyNorm\">\n<h5><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"bodyNorm\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"bodyNorm\">\n<p>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":0,"parent":60,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-63","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
