The City of Fond du Lac published its proposed 2026 budget and capital improvement plan. The proposal includes a balanced budget and a reserve that’s healthier than it has been in 15 years. The 2026 budget and capital improvement plan continue investments in public safety, streets, and parks as well as a focus on expanding residential construction. The capital improvement plan also provides for the city’s first targeted investments in the redevelopment of N. Main St.
The city continued to see growth in property values in all categories as equalized values expanded 10%. As a result of the 2025 revaluation, the city forecasts an estimated 30% reduction in its assessed value tax rate. External audits and reviews by bond rating agencies have confirmed the city’s strong financial position and stability.
