Task Of Commission

To update the master plan for the physical development of the community; recommend programs for public improvement; advise the City Council on petitions for rezoning of land, annexations, official map amendments, street vacations and plats; advise Council on land transactions and other public matters.

Membership Qualifications

  1. Unless permitted by statute or another provision of this Code of Ordinances, persons who are residents of the City or own property in the City or work in a full-time, permanent job in the City shall be preferred for appointment or selection to serve on any board, commission or committee of the City. An appointed member of any board, commission or committee who removes his residence from the City or sells his property in the City or stops working in the City shall be eligible to serve the remainder of his term but thereafter shall be ineligible for appointment.
  2. Common sense and soundness of judgment.
  3. A demonstrated interest in serving the long-range interest of the community unbound by narrow interests and political expediency.
  4. Demonstrated genuine and unselfish interest in the public welfare.
  5. Personal integrity.

Method Of Appointment

City Council confirms to a 3-year term expiring April 30th.

Meetings

Monthly on the Monday following the second Wednesday of each month (City Council meeting night), except in December when it is held the Monday before the second Wednesday of the month (City Council meeting night).  Meetings are held in the City-County Government Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
