The City of Fond du Lac utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to manage and analyze data sets that have geographic relationships. This allows for the efficient delivery of services to citizens. A GIS is a computer-based system that links both tabular and database information (i.e. “geospatial” data), enabling users to visualize patterns, relationships, and trends. GIS provides the ability to answer questions that would otherwise be challenging to solve.
The City maintains numerous GIS data sets, and also utilizes data from outside sources, such as Fond du Lac County. The Fond du Lac County online mapping page is also an excellent resource for GIS data.
