The Department of Public Works informs the motoring public of upcoming traffic lane closures on East Johnson Street, between National Avenue and Prairie Avenue. These closures will allow contractors to extend utility services and complete pavement restoration at Johnson Street and University Avenue.

All work is weather-dependent and subject to schedule adjustments.

Schedule & Closure Details

  • Stage 1 (Tuesday, Sept. 8 – Monday, Sept. 14): Eastbound Johnson Street (south side) will be closed to install sanitary sewer and water main, followed by pavement restoration. Westbound lanes will remain open.
  • Stage 2 (Following Stage 1): Westbound Johnson Street (north side) will be closed to install sanitary sewer and water main, followed by pavement restoration. Eastbound lanes will remain open.

Detour Details

  • Stage 1 Eastbound Closure: The signed detour is south on National Avenue, east on Division Street and north on Prairie Road.
  • Stage 2 Westbound Closure: The signed detour is south on Prairie Road, west on Division Street, and north on National Avenue.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour route or an alternate route avoiding the area.
