Excavation in Right of Way Permit

An Excavation in the Right-of-Way Permit is required when someone (mainly a contractor) needs to excavate (dig into or in any way remove or physically disturb or penetrate) any part of the City’s Right-of-Way. The fee for the permit is $150.00.

The individual/contractor excavating the right-of-way must complete the Excavation in the Right-of-Way Permit and submit permit to rowpermit@fdl.wi.gov or in person prior to start of excavation. The permit must include detailed information along with a plan of work to be completed. Engineering staff will review the application and may require modifications to the right-of-way permit prior to approval. Application approval by the City may take 3 – 5 business days to complete and return.
