The Utility is currently out of Safe Drinking Water grant money. We have applied to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to utilize water utility funds to financially assist those property owners affected by either a planned or unplanned partial lead water service replacement. We are currently working with the Public Service Commission to finalize our application. We still plan for approval in time for the 2020 street reconstruction projects.

The Fond du Lac Water Utility is taking steps to minimize lead levels in your drinking water. While lead is not found in Fond du Lac’s well water, lead may enter drinking water if it dissolves from lead water service lines, internal plumbing, or fixtures containing lead, especially when water stands unused for several hours.
Lead service lines were typically installed before 1950. Lead pipes are dull gray in color and are soft enough to be easily scratched with a house key. Also, a magnet will not stick to a lead pipe. Water service lines are broken up into two sections. The public side and the private side. Click HERE for a diagram. If you’re interested in finding out if your home has a public lead service line see the Public Side Lead Service Lateral Map. If you would like assistance in determining if your home has a private lead service line (PLSL) please call the Water Business Office at (920)322-3680 or email@example.com to schedule an appointment for a Meter Service Technician to stop by and help determine your water service material.
