Street Maintenance Worker

The City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of Street Maintenance Worker within the Construction & Maintenance Division.  All work is physical in nature.  Specific duties include patching streets, forming and pouring concrete, making asphalt repairs in streets, rebuilding and repairing catch basins, working on annual leaf collection program, and salting and plowing snow in winter conditions.

Other duties include transporting gravel, excess soil, building and construction materials, hauling snow, loading, hauling and dumping refuse.  Performs routine vehicle maintenance, i.e. checks oil, tire pressure, battery, etc. and manual labor incidental to operation, driving various types of trucks and operating machines and equipment incidental to public works construction and maintenance activities.  Ability to maneuver equipment trailer behind a dump truck is essential. Those with experience in construction and the operation of construction equipment will be preferred.

Graduation from high school or equivalent, and possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial “Class A” Driver’s License without air brakes restriction, and with tanker endorsement required.

A comprehensive fringe benefit package is offered including health, dental & life insurance, as well as participation in Wisconsin Retirement.  Salary range - $19.04 - $21.76.

Electrician Crew Leader

The City of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, is seeking an Electrician Crew Leader.  The purpose of this position is to be responsible to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, and to perform related work as required.  This position also helps to establish training programs for personnel concerning safety in general and safety procedures that relate to specific jobs or functions.

The successful candidate will possess thorough knowledge of electrical methods, practices, and principles in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment; laws, rules and regulations pertaining to electrical codes and their application; occupational hazards and safe work practices.  Abilities required include: install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment; understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions; and establish and maintain effective public and working relationships; read plans, specifications, rough sketches and layouts; and provide first line supervision and train others.

Duties include: Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment, worn and  obsolete equipment; installation, maintenance and repair of police and fire radio systems; installation and maintenance of electronic traffic controls, street light systems, traffic control systems, installation, maintenance and repair of emergency siren system in municipal buildings, and city-owned Christmas decorations; maintenance or records and preparation of reports; direct supervision for locating of underground city-owned electrical systems; design and supervise the installation and maintenance of street lighting, traffic signals, and other City electrical projects; develop lighting layouts; write specifications and cost estimates, and order materials for street lighting and traffic signal projects; maintain clerical, activity, financial, and other records as required; prepare accident reports as required; and prepare bills for equipment purchased by the City.

Position requires graduation from high school and eight or more years of experience in electrical construction and maintenance work. Special requirements include possession of a Master Electrician license (Preferred) issued by the State of Wisconsin. A Journeyman Electricians license will be considered.  A valid Wisconsin Commercial "Class A" Driver's License without air brakes restriction, and with tanker endorsement. Training requirements include confined space entry, Basic First Aid and CPR.

The City of Fond du Lac offers a benefit package including health and life insurance, as well as participation in Wisconsin Retirement.  Starting hourly pay range is $27.38 - $31.30 and will be based upon qualifications.  The position will be open until filled with the first application review starting after Friday, January 25, 2019.
