The Fond du Lac Fire Fighters Charitable Fund Inc. is an IRS 501©3 non-profit organization that was established in 2000 by the members of Fond du Lac Fire Fighters Local 400 to address the increasing amount of requests for donations the union was receiving. The fund initially started with donations from our own members and then grew upon starting a concession tent at Fond du Lac’s annual Walleye Weekend. We are very pleased with what we have accomplished so far donating over $300,000 back to the community and Fire Fighters in need since the year 2000.
Each spring, we hold a brat fry in support of our local Red Cross chapter. Thanks to great support from the community, it has become incredibly successful, raising over $6,000 last year! Our brat fry is very unique, featuring walk up, delivery, and drive-thru service!
We are also avid supporters of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and have been for many years. You may see us around town “Filling the Boot,” bagpiping for donations, or offering raffle tickets for MDA. All the money we raise for this worthy cause comes directly back to families in our own community who are living with one of over 40 muscular diseases. We currently are the #1 MDA fundraiser among firefighters in the State of Wisconsin!
The following is a list of organizations we are committed to support: Muscular Dystrophy Association, YMCA, The American Red Cross, KFIZ Radio Children’s Halloween Party, Solutions Center, Walleye Weekend Junior Fishing Tournament, Sabish Elves Program, Jaunt for Jonah, Wisconsin Riders Police Unity Tour, the Fond du Lac Children’s Museum, the Fond du Lac Historical Society, and requests for donations to firefighters and their families due to death or illness locally and throughout the state. We also support two scholarships formed following the deaths of 2 of our members, The Josh Polhamus Scholarship, and the Chris Henning Scholarship.
