The purpose of our wastewater treatment facility is to collect and treat wastewater before it is released back into the environment. The duties of the wastewater staff include: maintenance of the collection system and treatment plant, handling customer concerns and problems, and monitoring water quality and effectiveness of treatment. The wastewater treatment process is used to convert wastewater into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle with minimum impact on the environment.

The Fond du Lac Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility is comprised of three major areas:  Operations, Maintenance and Laboratory. Each of these areas is vital to the successful operation of the plant.  We are responsible for treating the incoming flow of water with characteristics that can change daily, or even hourly, depending on the weather or industrial activities.

In addition to producing clean water, the proper management of our facility also includes ensuring cost-efficient operations, making the best use of funds generated through local user charges.  Through the proper management of funds, staff and materials, we can ensure that our plant meets its goals of wastewater collection, treatment and disposal, in a safe and efficient manner.

Water is essential to everyone.  We all play a role in wastewater treatment.  Clean water depends on the participation and support of the entire community, from government agencies to individual citizens.
